Welcome All Park Recreation Facility Fulton County Department of Parks and Recreation, Atlanta, Georgia
The 45,000 square foot facility contains a full size gymnasium with a suspended running track above. Fully equipped arts & crafts space is dividable for various size groups. Meeting rooms are likewise partitioned accommodating small to large groups. Dance/aerobic/exercise room and weight training /equipment room are fully furnished with full height mirrored walls, dance bars and weight training resistance equipment.
The main entry opens to a large reception area with central receptionist control with views to the ‘L’ shaped & sky-lit passageways and all spaces. Natural lighting illuminates the displays of art and up-lifts the human spirit. Interior furnishings selections were based on longevity, durability and costs. Colors used are to stimulate creativity and comfort while fitting into an overall recreational environment. The exterior was inspired by the trees of the natural environment and African motifs in efforts to reach out and connect to the primarily African American community. Trees within the park inspired the ‘Y’ pattern and sloping parapets of the building’s exterior. Natural colors and materials express a warm and Welcoming state of the Art facility.
